At Winnebago Industries, our iconic brands spark a passion for adventure and wonder not only among our customers but within our own team. It’s this unique spirit that sets our people apart and drives team members like Kim Weckert to connect our customers with the outdoors. As vice president of marketing, product portfolio and digital transformation for Winnebago, Kim puts digital innovations to work to elevate the motorhome experience for customers. She knows that great customer experiences go beyond just integrating technology. It’s about using technology to solve problems and make it easier for people to access and experience the benefits of the outdoors in an RV. Her advice is simple: listen.
“People face challenges every day, but you have to focus on the key points,” she says. “What’s the experience and what’s the feeling? All you have to do is ask and listen. Sit down with people, understand the core challenge and then break it down to work it out. That’s one of the most important pieces.”
Kim is no stranger to the outdoors herself. Even before she could walk, she lived an adventurous life many only dream of. Her parents brought her home on a snowmobile which set the tone for a lifetime of outdoor adventure. “The outdoor experience has been rooted in me my entire life, which drew me to my career choices as well,” she says. She fondly recalls riding her bike as a young girl through Itasca State Park and spending time in her grandparents’ Winnebago. That spirit of adventure is still alive in her today, as she enjoys off-roading and other outdoor recreation in her spare time. When Kim’s on the job, she helps to reshape the RV experience for a new generation of outdoor enthusiasts, making RVing easier, more intuitive and more fun.
Kim knows that technology has the power to bring us closer to nature, not further from it. One of her proudest accomplishments? Winnebago ConnectTM, a first-of-its-kind smart RV platform that connects onboard systems so customers can easily manage their RV and put more of their focus on the fun of the journey.
With more than 25 years in customer experience, she has a keen understanding of what success looks like and the role digital transformation can play in creating extraordinary experiences. As she looks to the future, she is particularly excited about how evolving technologies will further enhance outdoor recreation and push the boundaries of what’s possible – all with an aim to redefine the RV experience for the better.
“What excites me is the evolution of technology, choosing the right partners and watching the evolution. But you have to understand the customer’s needs,” Kim says. “How is the technological evolution impacting – and most importantly – improving how people experience our RVs and the outdoors? That’s purposeful innovation.”
Kim was recently recognized for her work with a 2025 Women MAKE Award from the Manufacturing Institute. The award recognizes women and their achievements across all levels of manufacturing organizations. Kim takes great pride in her team and the people she works with. Outside the office, she finds joy in nature, whether it’s camping in remote areas or spending time with her granddaughter, she feels a deep sense of connection with nature and the benefits of the outdoors. Her work is helping others experience that same connection.
