Before a customer ever sets out on the open road, there’s a different kind of journey happening behind the scenes. It’s one built on internal and external partnerships, problem-solving and collaboration, making sure every material and component is strategically sourced based on business need and available at the right time. For Brooke Eggert, it’s a journey she lives every day as a senior category manager in enterprise strategic sourcing for Winnebago Industries.
Eggert helps ensure the materials that go into products across the organization’s brands are sourced from capable and competitive supply partners and are aligned to support teams and products across the business.
Enterprise Sourcing is responsible for developing coordinated material strategies that leverage enterprise spend, business insights and analytics. “In my role, I lead the metals category and related areas helping shape enterprise‑level sourcing strategies that create value,” said Eggert.
That behind-the-scenes work plays a critical role in supporting production continuity across the organization. “At the end of the day, success is knowing production is supported and materials are flowing as planned”. she added.
Eggert’s path to Winnebago Industries started long before she joined the company in 2022. With a background spanning manufacturing, retail and distribution and nearly a decade in the food industry, she built her career around understanding how systems connect and how to solve challenges before they happen.
“Success is seeing sourcing risks identified early, issues moving forward toward resolution and all our strategies staying aligned with our goals,” she said. Because when the right sourcing strategies are in place and materials are positioned to arrive on time, production stays on track and teams can do their best work, creating the foundation for the memories customers will make with their RV far beyond the factory floor.
A different kind of impact
Eggert agrees that the impact of her work isn’t always visible, but it’s always felt. “Even small wins really add up to long-term value for the business,” she said.
Her role is one that requires curiosity, adaptability and a willingness to look beyond your own lane — qualities she encourages others to develop when considering a career in sourcing.
“Be curious and take the initiative to learn the whole business and how it operates, not just your specific role,” she said. “Ask questions, embrace challenges and stay flexible, because those experiences are really where the growth and the impact happen.”
Where work meets the outdoors
Outside of work, Eggert’s connection to the outdoors is something she’s carried with her for years. “I used to spend a lot of time backpack camping,” she said. “I was really into hiking and setting up camp and spending long weekends in the outdoors. That was my escape.”
These days, with a young family, escape looks a little different, but the intention is the same. “We like to spend time outdoors by golfing and hiking with our springer spaniel,” she said. “We recently acquired a boat and plan to spend a lot of time exploring Minnesota’s 10,000 lakes this summer.”
Eggert’s passion in and out of the office is a reminder of why our work matters. Every decision made upstream helps elevate the outdoor moments that customers and families, like Eggert’s, can enjoy together.
