GHG Emissions Reduction
- Reduce absolute GHG by 50% by 2030
- Achieve net-zero GHG emissions by 2050
Winnebago Industries joined the United Nations (UN) We Mean Business Coalition, which is a campaign led by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in partnership with the UN Global Compact. The commitment is designed to engage businesses, aligned with other stakeholders, to set science-based targets to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, a goal made more relevant by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s recent report.
We performed a comprehensive inventory of our Scope 1 & Scope 2 GHG emissions across all manufacturing locations. We selected 2020 as our base year against which to set our reduction targets and to measure future progress. As we continue along our journey to net-zero GHG emissions, we will calculate and set targets for our enterprise-wide Scope 3 GHG emissions.
Winnebago Industries will use the Scope 1, 2 and 3 emission data to develop strategies to transition to a “net-zero” carbon economy. We will use the methodology of SBTi to conduct scenario analyses to understand the impact climate change will have on our business. Our work will center on creating pathways to achieve our goals.
