State Club

The Dingling Brothers Darnum and Daily Three Ring Circus pulled into the East Bay RV Park for the UT State Rally Thursday, Aug. 20. There were clowns of all varieties that came to the circus. Everyone joined in the fun and had their faces painted. We even had a visit from the "Joker," a member of the batman group. There were twelve coaches in attendance. WIT western area representatives, Dan and Margie Harper, joined the fun.
Thursday we enjoyed a potluck dinner and afterwards, we played two games to get everyone into the circus mood. The first game, the men raced against the women to see who could put on the following clothing: white gloves, a bow tie, glasses, hat, clown nose, and shoes. Of course, the women finished first. The next game was a golf game played with Velcro balls.
Friday President Wally Reynolds welcomed everyone and colors of our country were presented. After breakfast, everyone signed up for the carnival games. WIT Representatives Dan and Margie Harper talked about WIT Tours. Root beer floats were served after the WIT Tour seminar. Beanbag Baseball was played in the afternoon.
After dinner, we had a special treat provided by Margie and Dan. They called them "Wampum's." A wooden stick was used and biscuits were placed on the end of the stick and roasted over hot coals. After it was cooked, we filled the center with different flavors of pie filling and topped them off with whip cream.
Saturday after breakfast, members were able to purchase new WIT items at the WIT Store. Some members were sporting some fancy new shirts. That afternoon, carnival games took place and afterwards, everyone got together to paint faces and there were none alike.
After dinner, Sammy T, the clown, came and tied balloons for everyone. When the professional clown arrived, he was a little intimidated by all of the clowns in the room. Medals were passed out for the best commercial, best homemade, the funniest, and the most unique. Everyone had their picture taken by Hal Hallett and were presented a photo to take home. Awards for the winners of the carnival games were presented and drawings for door prizes and raffles completed the evening.
Our goodbyes were said Sunday while we enjoyed a continental breakfast. The circus loaded up and moved onto the next destination.

Golden Spike Travelers
Local Chapter
By June Hamblin
The Golden Spike Travelers "Peach Days" outing was held at the Brigham City KOA, Sept. 9-11. This event was hosted by Gary and Judy Rudy and Keith and Karen Waldron. Greetings and gift bags were handed out by our hosts to 16 members (eight units).
Everyone received the Brigham City's 2009 Peach Days Celebration Schedule of Events. We watched the annual Peach Days parade from Dave Keller's (a former member) car wash. There was a Rod & Custom Car Club show at Watkins and Pioneer Park, in which club member, Jerry Kersey, proudly displayed his 1942 Jeep. Other events included a flower show, various entertainment, and a book sale.
Friday night, everyone participated in the "Driving Safety" game, identifying the eight colors used in road signs and the eight specific sign shapes. Afterwards, we played "Safety Pins" which were hid in a bowl of rice. Entertainment was provided by the campground.
Saturday after spending most of the day at the Peach Day events, we had a barbecue dinner followed by a game called "Items Found in the Motor Home." After viewing 30 items, we were asked to write down as many as you could remember.
