Pennsylvania State Club
State Club
By Lorraine Plant
Thirty years as a WIT State Club—worth celebrating for sure. The PA State WIT Club and local chapters hosted the PA State Rally June 9-12 with the theme of "Happy Birthday." A great time was had by all.
As the rally came to an end, the officers and WIT chapter members attended the annual rally end meeting. Discussions of the rally activities and events were the main focus at the meeting. Feedback from attendees is always welcome and helps us to change, add, or improve any areas that come to our attention through the surveys. It is a great help and we thank all those who take the time to let us know how we are doing and how you enjoyed the rally. Indications are that we had a great rally.
PA State WIT Club officers were elected to office at the meeting. Eastern Area Rep Butch Moore swore in the officers for the 2011-2012 season. Those officers are: President, Russ LaForce; 1VP, David Liggett; 2VP, Kathy Plant; Secretary, Lorraine Plant; and Treasurer, Dan Gates.
Our thoughts now turn to the work and planning for next year's rally. We hope to see you then.
Until we see you again, be safe in your travels and enjoy the summer camping.
Keystone Winnies
Local Chapter

Keystone Winnies held their June campout immediately following the PA state rally at the Centre Hall Grange Fairgrounds. Seven member rigs stayed to celebrate Keystone Winnies 40th birthday! It was a delight to have our FL resident members, John and Mary Christof, camping with us this year. They will be heading to GNR so we wish them safe travels and look forward to their next trip back to PA! Three LETS member rigs also stayed to celebrate with Keystone. What fun we have with this group when they join us—we enjoy their company and friendship and always have a good time!
Potluck dinner and a luncheon at the infamous Nitany Inn overlooking the Grange Fairgrounds and surrounding countryside kept us all plenty full and smiling. An evening of party games, 1971 trivia, and birthday cake was entertaining for all. In 1971, Keystone Winnies' year of "birth," Winnebago had advertised a 1971 F-17R Renegade self-contained motor home with 594.24 cubic feet of living space, powered by a Ford P350 chassis with three-speed auto trans at a price of $5,995. Thanks to Winnebago, we have come a long way in these past 40 years and look forward to another 40 with WIT and fellow members!
We would like to welcome our newest members of Keystone Winnies, Ann and Bill Sherwood, from the Hughesville, PA area. They joined our ranks while at the state rally.
As the camping time came to an end, some folks were charting their trip to GNR while others back home. We are all looking forward to our next campout. Hope to see you all again soon. Safe travels.
Three Rivers Winnies
Local Chapter
The Three Rivers Winnies have been very active this past summer season.
May: We spent the first weekend in May at Coopers Lake Campground. It is always a nice place to visit. Mother's Day was celebrated with a breakfast brunch for the campers. Uhmm good!
June: June was our state rally and a nice time was had. Our ice cream social is the best. Bring your own bowl (any size)! After the rally we spent a day in Centre Hall visiting Penn's Cave, the only cave in PA that can be seen by boat. From there we went to Friendship Village in Bedford, PA. We used this campground as a staging area and went to Altoona to see the railroad museum and a Curves baseball game (they are minor league for the Pittsburgh Pirates). In PA there are lots of things to see and do.
July: We went to Bayshore Campground in Andover, OH. An interesting place to see is the spillway on Lake Pymatuning where ducks walk on the backs of the fish. A fish hatchery is near there, it is the world's largest inland fish hatchery. It also has a two-story aquarium. It was fascinating to see.
August: In August, we went to Hill's Campground in Erie, PA, now called Presque Isle Passage RV Park and Cabin Rentals. This convenient location allowed quick access to many attractions located in the area. The campground is near to several fishing locations. We relaxed by the campfire after a visit to the beach and/or walking a few of the trails in Presque Isle State Park. Of course, we had to see the shopping outlets and a few of the five wineries.
It is always good when friends get together.
