White Mountain Winnies
Local Chapter
By Barbara Waterhouse
The White Mountain Winnies had the September campout at Mi-Te-Jo campground on Milton Three Ponds in Milton, NH which is a great family campground with something for everyone. Larry and Pat Minor were hosts and arrived on Thursday and had everything ready to go for the weekend when the members arrived on Friday. Larry with a helping hand from Tom Killmer and Grant Taylor picked up a good supply of wood for a campfire after supper. The new campfire wood rules in NH prevents campers from bringing wood from home unless you can prove it was grown and processed in NH.
After supper on our own the hosts started the fire and everyone gathered around to swap stories about past travels and current events.
Saturday the coffee was ready and the cooks were busy with a potluck breakfast with enough food to feed a small army. JoAnne and Hank Metz came in late Friday and joined the breakfast club. Dick and Marji Parker also arrived late Friday and joined the breakfast club with more food.
A business meeting was called to order by President Les Waterhouse. The main topic was the coming merger of the chapter into the state club which will happen at the October meeting.
Saturday supper was potluck and again there was more than enough food. The arsonist went into motion again and had a great campfire. After it was noted that some folks were not replying when spoken to, it was decided to call it a day and let everyone go to bed.
Sunday morning it was breakfast and potluck leftovers with more reminiscing until it was time to roll up the awnings and move out. Another great campout with dear friends goes into the memory bank.
