Thirteen coaches participated at our annual Friendship Rally, held in November at Terribles Lakeside RV Park in Pahrump, NV. Our annual Brown Bag Auction for charity attained a new record of $1570. Club members Mary Haupt and Joyce Nies used the proceeds to provide Christmas gifts to 2 families through the Las Vegas CandleLighters charity.
Auctioneer Jack Hill, assisted by Bill Cantrell & collection agent Lolly Dague.
Peggy Smith took us back in time to a more authentic Thanksgiving dinner, consisting of turkey, venison and fish, along with wild rice, corn fritters, pumpkin pudding, baked onions and other goodies provided by our Pilgrim Cooks.
We gathered in December at Moon River RV Park in Fort Mohave Arizona for our Christmas outing, where we dined on Prime Rib, guarded over all day by Chef Karen Johnson. Sandy Murdock held a craft class Saturday afternoon on egg decorating. Everyone gathered after our Christmas dinner for the Chinese Christmas Ornament Auction. This has proved a popular event, this year several ornaments shared in being actively stolen.
Our January and February outings tend to be very cold and windy, or not, strictly the luck of the draw. 2011 began at Avi KOA, Laughlin, NV, where club members decorated the gazebo with tarps and Bob Buchanan brought a long enclosed trailer to help shelter our meals from the wind. February’s weather in Mesquite, NV was balmy, allowing us to at least have our annual election meeting outside in the campground.
March will be a busy month, with a club outing, then the SouthWest Regional Rally at the end of the month. Looking forward to competing again for the Brownie BeanBag Baseball Trophy.
The club suspends our monthly outings during June, July and August, as many of us head out of the desert to escape the summer heat. Looking forward to meeting new folks back at GNR.
