Our August campout was held in Paradise, MI during the Wild Blueberry Festival. Friday we went to Sault St. Marie to see the Great Lake freighters going through the locks. However, there were no ships scheduled to come through until late that day, so everyone was doing their own thing until we met for lunch at the famous Antler's restaurant. After enjoying some great food and having some horns and whistles blown for some of our birthday people (part of Antler's amenities), everyone was on their own for the rest of the day. As our members were camped at Bay Mills Casino, there was no problem finding something to do, especially when it came to playing the slots.
Saturday we went to the Blueberry Festival and some ate the famous blueberry pancake breakfast. Most enjoyed checking out all the arts and crafts at the festival. We did some sightseeing to Whitefish Point, Tahquamenon Falls, and other areas of interest. We met at the Spaulding's cottage around noon for snacks and drinks. The weather had warmed up and we could sit outside and watch the freighters go by and enjoy visiting with each other. After supper, we went across the road from the Spauldings and enjoyed listening to musicians who were part of the Blueberry Festival. Everyone had a good time, after all, we were in "Paradise."
