Water Wonderland Winnies
State Club
The Water Wonderland Winnies wrapped up an exceptional year with our Sept. 18-20 campout at Alice Springs Campground in Ionia, MI. Lansing Area Winnies were our hosts and we had 48 coaches in attendance.
Many of those who arrived Thursday found their way into town for dinner, where one of the restaurants featured corned beef and cabbage and green beer, as the date was "halfway to St. Patrick's Day." Back at the campground, WWW'ers could be seen walking around intently looking for something both Thursday and Friday—a pictorial trivia contest kept folks guessing for the answers. There was also a miniature golf tournament to occupy the time. Friday evening's tasty dinner was catered by Corner Landing and was followed by a rousing game of Apple Bingo with apple-themed prizes.
Back at the coaches, Skip Yates had a campfire going and many gathered 'round to chat. After breakfast Saturday, several chapters got together for chapter meetings. The afternoon "Games on the Green" kept everyone on their toes—points were given for the various games. Ice cream purchased at the camp store re-energized us to sit and listen as the camp staff and friends provided a couple hours of country and gospel music. Another fine catered dinner was followed by a very competitive game of Trivia Football.
Afterwards, another campfire was well attended and many discussed next year's identities for the Rally and GNR. A hearty breakfast Sunday was followed by a church service provided by the campground staff. Many took their time to pack up and leave, with the Cereal City Campers staying on for their campout. It was great to have so many members participate this year in all our events—2010 promises to be even better! We have all our dates and places in order, so check them out in "Who's Inviting Who" and join us if you can.
