Rain and more rain! Early birds arriving before the 'Bago, 'Bago Island Opening Ceremonies on Thursday enjoyed sunny mild conditions, but that came to a sudden stop on Thursday. The next two days the rally goers dawned their rain gear, muck-boots, and trudged through ankle deep waters in the open field of the Fairgrounds. Our electrical cords were under water and we were all warned to stay away from them. In any case, the weather never prevented us from getting together and carrying on with the Rally program.
The MA WIT Clubs were represented by the Woods, Bates, Wagners, Lynches, Rumrhills Hatchs, Goebles (who renewed), Mahoneys, and Fourniers.
Friday, the pet parade was well attended. As you might expect, the Ice Cream Social was a hit. Friday, Jim and Lillian won a set of step carpets; Dave and Donna Rumrhill won a WIT Store gift certificate; and John and Pauline won a well stocked basket.
Saturday, we hunted for each other so we could sit together. The rain let up and although cool and windy, we headed for the nearby flea market. We spent much of the day dodging mud and puddles as we inspected the new rigs on display. We found out later that night that seven rigs (and possibly one more) were sold over the weekend. Saturday, we were treated to an encore performance of "Entertainment Review." They are the all-girl song and dance group that we raved about last year. They were even better this year! We enjoyed a special treat at the close of their show. This year, the entire cast walked into the audience and we all had a chance to thank them and wish them well. The girls were deeply touched by our outpouring of kudos and adulation.
The Rally basically ended Saturday. All that was planned for Sunday was a light breakfast and club meetings. We were informed that 307 coaches were present; 26 states were represented and one coach from Canada. Our very own MA WIT Member, Mary Wagner, won a nice money prize in the 50/50 Raffle and Nick Wagner won some chemicals in the drawing.
Sunday was a day to make our exodus before the rigs made larger ruts in the soft soil. As far as we know, only one rig got stuck (early in the weekend); we all made it out without any incident.
(SIDE NOTE: Florida should not have any drought this year!)

Twenty-six "stuck up north" members of the MA WIT Clubs, including two new couples, attended a wonderful luncheon at the Imperial Buffet in Milford on Sunday, Mar. 21. It has been over four months since our last campout, the "winterizing party" for those not heading south to warmer climates for the winter; however, from what I have heard, it has not been that warm down south this past winter. After close to an hour of handshakes, hugs and "how have you been," all warming our hearts, the gang finally headed to the buffet lines to fill and warm their tummies.
Everyone seemed to enjoy seeing their RV friends, sharing their winter tales, and looking forward to being together on the road again soon.
Do not forget our Southern New England Tri-State Rally (June 4 - 6, 2010)!
