Pelican Winnies
State Club

Sept. 10-13, the LA Pelican Winnies held their fall meeting at Poche's Fish-N-Camp in Breaux Bridge. This is a great facility with a large room built out over a well-stocked lake. Covered porches on three sides offers lots of room for dropping a line. Twenty-three coaches made the trip including guest, Brenda Bertholot, of Baton Rouge, who joined before the weekend was over.

Early arrivals enjoyed going to Poche's Market and Restaurant for delicious Cajun lunches.
The N'Awlins Winnies hosted the meeting serving two dinners, a lagniappe hot dog supper and a very special Belgian Waffle breakfast.

Following breakfast, we held our meeting and voted to make JC and Shirley Johnson, who no longer have a coach, honorary members—they have served our club many years in many positions. Saturday the group that went to GNR, cooked up a big pot of the Jambalaya that we served on Row Day for the members that were not able to attend. There was also a slideshow of GNR pictures running on a picture frame. Several members said they planned to go next year. Following dinner, we had a quick game of card bingo with lots of prizes donated by the host club.
