Georgia Winnie Rebels
State Club
By Theda Chambless
There is no place as beautiful as spring in the GA mountains. This beauty added to our GA Winnie Rebel State meeting on May 21 – 23. Riverbend Campground in Hiawassee was the place to be – their beautifully landscaped park was a sight to behold. Hosts Gone with the Winnies made a good choice; 22 coaches came to enjoy the outing.
Several coaches arrived early just to enjoy the cool mountain air and the camaraderie of friends. Thursday the RV park management prepared a delicious catfish dinner for us.
The outing was officially started on Friday.
We had a real treat Friday. I have never before seen such an array of beautiful delicious salads. Each family brought their favorite. After dinner, games and visiting filled the rest of the evening with loads of fun as we visited with friends.
Immediately following breakfast, we had the GA Winnie Rebel's business meeting. This was an important meeting, as it was when our new GWR President Fred Tomsett was sworn in by outgoing President Dan Rankin. The state business meeting was followed by chapter meetings. Afterwards we had the entire day off to explore our surroundings.
The evening meal was catered by a local restaurant and was especially good. As usual, the rest of the evening was spent visiting with friends and playing games.
After breakfast Hubert Blankenship led devotions. We then said our goodbyes and wished each other, "Happy trails to you until we meet again." It was another outstanding outing.
