Fraser Valley Explorers
By Nancy Partridge

March: It was a small gathering in March at the Cariboo RV Park in Burnaby as many of our snowbirds had not returned from their winter sojourn. However, the six coaches who did attend had a great weekend. The park could not have been nicer in their attempts to accommodate our needs.

Friday saw the group gather for dinner at a local ABC restaurant followed by games back at the park. Four more couples joined us for the Saturday potluck.

April: We had 20 coaches attend the outing at the Swinomish Casino RV Park in WA State. Saturday most of us headed out to visit the many tulip growers in the region. Following this, many opted for a walking tour of La Connor and lunch.

Situated on the delta near the mouth of the Skagit River, La Connor was founded in the early 1860s and is Skagit County’s oldest community. It has many interesting shops, art galleries, and restaurants.

Because there is no clubhouse at the casino, we had Friday dinner at the Farmhouse, a restaurant that specializes in turkey dinners and home-cooked meals. Saturday our chapter meeting was held at the Jumbo Chinese Buffet in Oak Harbour.
